Daniel 3:22-25

The king’s command was so urgent and the furnace so hot that the flames of the fire killed the soldiers who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and these three men, firmly tied, fell into the blazing furnace. Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, “Weren’t there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?” They replied, “Certainly, Your Majesty.” He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like the son of God.”

How are you doing this week? The holidays are here, and for some, this is an exciting, joyful time of year. But for others, it can feel heavy. Grief, stress, and even depression often show up when we least expect them, even during seasons that are supposed to be joyful.

This passage from Daniel reminds me that no matter what we’re going through, we’re not alone. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were thrown into a literal furnace, yet they weren’t destroyed. God didn’t just deliver them from the fire; He showed up in the fire with them.

Sometimes we can sense Jesus walking with us through our struggles, and other times it feels like we’re on our own. But whether we feel it or not, He’s always there. The fires we face can refine us, burning away the things we cling onto, but that’s often when we meet Him in a deeper way.

So, if you’re feeling the heat this season, I want to encourage you: trust Jesus. He’s right there with you, offering peace and strength to make it through. My prayer for all of us is that we can lean into that truth and let Him carry us through whatever fires we’re facing. 💛🔥
